The great wall of China is considered to be the most recogniseable man made and natural landmark in the world. The great wall of China has numerous walls to it aswell as fortifications. It was first conceived by the Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the third century to prevent incursions form barbarian nomads.
The size of the wallThe length of the wall is 5,00.3 miles which is equivalent to over 10000 li. (Li = a third of a mile)
What is the wall made ofEarlier sections of the wall consisted of materials such as stone, wood and compacted earth. It was mainly made from brick and the wall lies on an east to west line crossing through the historical north part of China.

Who made the wallThe wall was made by many different dynasties, that made smaller sections of the wall and then the whole wall joined together. Slaves and ordinary Chinese citizens helped to make the wall.
